Matthew Macey is a Craftsman by trade in woodworking. Skilled in principles of woodworking,species identification and properties. Traditional and modern jointery, repair, restoration techniques. Antique and modern furniture design, styles, construction. Cabinetry design and construction. Skilled in veneering, inlay, marquetry, carving, turning. Finishing skills in
traditional and modern finishes: shellac, oil, varnish, wax, lacquer. Finish layering,glazing, grain filling, toning, aging, color matching. Finish manipulation, touch-ups,sheen altering, high-building for the high polished look of a Steinway Grand Piano, or a flat matte finish silky smooth to the touch.

Matthew Macey custom designs and builds furniture per contract, per client. His main interest and inspiration are gravitational, kinetic, symbolistic, and natural forms. He has an artistic vision and style that are truly unique to only his works. Pieces are on display throughout public and private venues in the Kansas City Area.
